Formed under the midnight sun in Lofoten in 2006, the Engegård is one of Norway’s most sought after ensembles. Their bold, fresh interpretations combined with an attachment to their Scandinavian roots have attracted international acclaim. The quartet has performed throughout Europe as well as in South America with concerts in Bogotá and Sao Paolo. They also bring superb music back to Norway – Arvid Engegård as founder of the Lofoten Festival, and Juliet Jopling as artistic director of the Oslo Quartet Series.

The Engegård love to collaborate with colleagues from different musical traditions – with Hardanger fiddler Nils Økland; with jazz-violinist Ola Kvernberg; and Ibsen/Beethoven with actor Bjørn Sundquist.

The Engegård Quartet is supported by the Norwegian Arts Council.

Formed in 2018, the Roscoe Piano Trio unites celebrated pianist Martin Roscoe, violinist Fenella Humphreys and cellist Jessica Burroughs. With an extraordinary career spanning over four decades, Martin Roscoe is unarguably one of the UK’s best loved pianists. Winner of BBC Music Magazine’s 2018 Instrumental award, Fenella enjoys a busy career as soloist and chamber musician.

Alongside her position as principal cellist with Opera North, Jessica performs regularly as soloist and in chamber music, including with the Moricosta String Trio. The Roscoe Piano Trio was originally formed for a performance celebrating the life of Peter Cropper. The ensemble has since performed at venues including Bridgewater Hall, and looks forward to forthcoming concerts including Beverley Chamber Music Festival and Ribble Valley International Piano Week.

The Confluence Quartet is made up of four eclectic young musicians who joined forces in September 2019 to share their passion for string quartet repertoire, and everything else in life ranging from ecology, pure intonation, folk music and a particular sense of humour. Pierre-Antoine Codron and Tom Almerge-Zerillo met in Lyon at the CNSM where they shared six years of quartet playing and developed a passion for it.

Once graduated, the inseparable friends set out to build their dream quartet with Lorraine Campet and Charlotte Saluste-Bridoux. Currently young artists in residence at the Singer-Polignac foundation in Paris, the Confluence Quartet is mentored by Mathieu Herzog and kindly supported by the Swiss foundation Boubo-Music.
